NDIS Price Guide 2023-24: An In-detail Overview!

It's that time of the year which keeps every NDIS service provider and participant on edge. It is when the National Disability Insurance Agency or NDIA sets/resets the NDIS price guide. For the upcoming session 2023-24, the community has already drafted the Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2023-24.

So from July 1, 2023, there will be some crucial price changes that will take effect.
This blog post will highlight some essential changes and pricing updates in the latest NDIS price guide.

To start with:

The Price limits for support delivered by disability support workers will see an increase of 5.3% to account for the following:

  • The minimum Award wages have been increased by 5.75% by the Fair Work Commission. The NDIA has taken full responsibility for covering this wage increase for workers employed under the Award, so providers do not need to cover it themselves.
  • The temporary loading extension has been granted for an additional 12 months at a 1% interest rate. However, it has decreased by half compared to last year when it was 2%. The extension will end on July 1, 2024.
  • Inclusion of family and domestic violence paid leave of 0.1% to align with the updated National Employment Standards entitlements for employees
  • Implementation of the increased superannuation guarantee charge of 0.5% in total.

These are a few positive and vital updates in the latest updated NDIS pricing guide.

Therapy Supports

The officials have kept the Therapy support pricing structure unchanged. They stated that the current NDIS price limit of $193.99 is a decent hourly cost that most therapy professionals charge. After comparing with other government therapy programs and private billing rates, NDIS's therapy price limits are still competitive.

Plan Management & Support Coordination

After extensive market analysis and expert consultation, the officials have decided to make any changes or adjustments to the support coordination level 2 and 3 pricing. It includes the plan management segment as well. However, the Level 1 support connection will be indexed according to the NDIS DSW Cost Model.

The NDIA stated that they invested significantly in the markets for support coordination ($428 million) and plan management ($228 million) over the six months leading to December 2022, compared to the same period the year prior.

NDIS Pricing Arrangments & Pricing Limits (PAPL)

It was on the cards of many experts. There have been two not-so-major yet significant changes that occurred in PAPL.

  • The price limit for other supports will increase by 4.36% from July 1, 2023.
  • The Temporary Transformation Payment (TTP) loading will decrease from 3% to 1.5% and will come to a complete stop on July 1, 2023.

The committee has also confirmed that providers offering group and center-based activities must use transitional or apportioned pricing.
